Cannot understand the code challenge answer

I know the answer of this challenge is while($row = $results->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)){ $item["genres"][$row["genre_id"]] = $row["genre"]; } The point is I cannot understand it at all and I have watched the lesson a lot! any help?
