Fatal Error with 'git branch add-readme'?

fatal: Not a git repository (or any parent up to mount point /home/treehouse/workspace )
Stopping at filesystem boundary (GIT_DISCOVERY_ACROSS_FILESYSTEM not set).

I keep getting this when typing in 'git branch add-readme'.

What can I do to fix this issue?

Hi Malachi,

I think you seem to be in the wrong directory.

The working directory in the video is /workspace/Treehouse

Hope this helps

Thanks a bunch. Can't believe I looked over that D:

Hi John,

I'm encountering the same problem (I think a lot of people in this course are), but I don't understand your solution. Can you please further explain?

Thank you, Josie

In other words, John was saying that if you're currently in the wrong directory, change into the correct one. This happened to me because I paused the course and came back. You want to be in the Treehouse folder. Type cd Treehouse into your Workspace console and that will change your directory from treehouse:~/workspace$ to the correct one: treehouse:~/workspace/Treehouse$
