How were you able to access websites IP with "location.href" without saying "window.location.href" ?

How does the browser know what value you are accessing without the full call to the object?

The browser considers "window" to be the host object, and it is the default context for the program. This allows properties to be referenced without the prefix, but a "best practice" is to always use the prefix anyway. This protects your code against potential future browser changes, or when a local variable named "location" is created.
