Ruby Ruby Basics Conditionals "if" Statements

I am having difficulty with this particular challenge task regarding "if" statements

For some reason I keep getting this error

There seems to be an error in your code: 1: syntax error, unexpected tINTEGER, expecting ')' (SyntaxError)

but i cant seem to figure it out

program.rb 
def check_speed(50)
  if speed > 55
    check_speed = "too fast"
  end
  if speed < 55
    check_speed = "to slow"
  end
  if speed == 55
    check_speed = "speed ok"
  end
end

You're close! But two issues stand out (the first one is causing the current error):

  • on the "def" line, the parameter name should be in the parentheses (instead of "55")
  • the function needs to print the message
