Isn't the use of 'var' instead of 'let' or 'const' for declaring variables deprecated?

The current video I'm watching is "Introducing Variables". Isn't using 'var' deprecated? Aren't we supposed to use 'let' or 'const' ?

The more modern declarators of "let" and "const" are probably best choices in most situations, but "var" has different scope and hoisting behaviors that make it uniquely handy on occasion. I personally also like to use it to distinguish global variables.

I don't expect it to become "deprecated" just because it's no longer the only choice for declarations.

So, looking further ahead in the course, it explains let and const are the current way to declare. I didn't understand why var was in the course now but it makes sense to explain all of it.
