Selenium web driver Vs Chrome driver?

Hi, I understand Chrome driver is specific to Chrome. Whats the fundamental jobs of each of these 'drivers'. Mainly the difference

Do we need both of them to be installed. Are both language specific?

Cheers! Phaneendra

The shortest answer is: You need both, if you want to test using Chrome.

WebDriver is the Selenium library of code containing the FindBys and Clicks and SendKeys code. ChromeDriver is a library of code that controls the Chrome Browser.

In order to create your test scripts, you need WebDriver. In order to control the Chrome Browser, you need ChromeDriver.
