Squaring Challenge, ERROR: test_results (__main__.TestFunctionDefinitionExecution)

I can't seem to solve the problem. My code works, but it keeps telling me I have an error?

squaring.py
def square(number):
  return (number * number)

total = int(input("What number would you like to square? "))

squared = square(total)
print("The square of {} is {}".format(total, squared))

Also in the error it says Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 48, in test_results File "/workdir/utils/challenge.py", line 24, in execute_source exec(src) File "", line 5, in EOFError: EOF when reading a line

I'm looking through the lines but to me it looks like I have ended my line by closing the brackets?

Your code "works", but it does something different from what the instructions asked for:

  • they say "call your new function and pass it the argument 3" — they mean as a literal, not by using input
  • they also say "create a new variable named result to store the value ...", but you've created "squared" instead
  • then instructions also don't ask you to print anything

I just went back and read the whole thing properly, it's only asking me to define the function and hasn't even asked me to complete it yet.

I removed everything but the function and it's passed me.

Thank you
