JavaScript AJAX Basics AJAX Concepts Finish the AJAX Request

I have a send() function present but it keeps asking me if i have a send() in my code.

I am stuck

app.js
var request = new XMLHttpRequest();
request.onreadystatechange = function () {
  if (request.readyState === 4) {
    document.getElementById("footer").innerHTML = request.responseText;
  }
};
request.open('GET', 'footer.html');
function sendAJAX() {
  request.send();
  document.getElementById('footer').style.display = "none";
}
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <meta charset="utf-8">
  <title>AJAX with JavaScript</title>
  <script src="app.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
  <div id="main">
    <h1>AJAX!</h1>
  </div>
  <div id="footer"></div>
</body>
</html>

It's because you're not calling your sendAjax() function. So even though you've written it, by not actually invoking the function you effectively haven't actually added it to your code.

Also why are you creating a function anyway? It's not necessary for this challenge and I wouldn't add the dom manipulation either, as you aren't told to do it? Just so that you are aware, adding more code than is necessary in the challenges, especially code that manipulates the data, can cause challenges to fail. So in the future, do exactly what the challenges tell you to do to avoid confusing results.

Thank you Dane
