Python Web Development Techdegree Student 10,287 PointsRegular expression using groupdict() doesn't pass
I've looked through my code as thoroughly as possible, but I can't seem to find what I'm doing wrong here regarding the regular expression.
import re
string = '''Love, Kenneth: 20
Chalkley, Andrew: 25
McFarland, Dave: 10
Kesten, Joy: 22
Stewart Pinchback, Pinckney Benton: 18'''
regex = r'''
(?P<last_name>^[ \w]+),\s
(?P<first_name>[\w]+):\s
(?P<score>\d+)
'''
return re.search(regex, string, re.M|re.X).groupdict()

The challenge ask you to assign the results of the search to the variable players. replace
return
with assignment.groupdict
is not necessary. Simply assign the whole search results.similar to the last_name pattern, there is a space needed in the first_name pattern.
Post back if you need more help. Good luck!!!
