What constitutes a regex object?

PLS HELP I have been stuck on this for a while and I really don't know what I am doing wrong. I keep getting an error saying that players doesn't seem to be a regex object. All help is appreciated

players.py
import re

string = '''Love, Kenneth: 20
Chalkley, Andrew: 25
McFarland, Dave: 10
Kesten, Joy: 22
Stewart Pinchback, Pinckney Benton: 18'''

players = re.match(r'''
                    (?P<last_name>[-\w\s\w]+),\s
                    (?P<first_name>\s[-\w\s*\w]+):\s
                    (?P<score>\s[\d]+)
                    ''', string, re.X | re.M)

Nvm, I figured it out! I just had some formatting issues. here was my solution

players = re.match(r'''
                    (?P<last_name>[-\w\s\w]+),\s
                    (?P<first_name>[-\w\s*\w]+):\s
                    (?P<score>[\d]+)
                    ''', string, re.X | re.M)
