Sign up[Treehouse presents Quick Tips ] 0:00 [How to Shape Text Fields in Adobe Photoshop, with Allison Grayce] 0:01 Hi, I'm Allison Grayce. 0:05 In this Treehouse Quick Tip, we're going to learn 0:07 how to manipulate Photoshop's text containers 0:09 to take on a more unconventional shape, 0:11 because sometimes a simple box just won't do. 0:13 We'll achieve this using vector shapes, the Pen, and Type Tool. 0:16 So I want to add some paragraph text to the left of this cupcake. 0:19 But instead of the paragraph text simply being in the shape of a box, 0:23 I'd like for the right side of the text to curve along with the cupcake. 0:27 So I'm going to go ahead and grab the Rectangle Tool, 0:31 and draw out the sides of the paragraph. 0:34 Now head on over to the Pen tool, 0:37 and click and hold, and select the Add Anchor Point Tool. 0:39 We're going to add a few points on the path 0:43 where we'd like the text box to curve. 0:45 It can be helpful to lower the opacity of the rectangle as you're doing this. 0:48 Using the Direct Selection Tool, by pressing A on your keyboard 1:02 or by navigating over to the Toolbar and clicking and holding, 1:06 move the anchors to position them 1:09 where the text box should curve alongside the cupcake. 1:12 Remember, you can grab the handles on either side of the anchor 1:19 to get more of a curve going. 1:22 Now go ahead and select all of your text 1:24 that you'd like to appear in the text box. 1:27 Select the Type Tool. 1:32 Hover over the shape, and when the cursor changes, go ahead and click. 1:34 Notice how the text box now takes on the shape that we just manipulated. 1:37 We'll go ahead and paste in our text 1:41 and begin to style it appropriately. 1:44 Now we'll go ahead and commit to our current edit 1:46 here in the Options Bar, 1:50 and we can delete the rectangle that we initially manipulated. 1:51 And the right side of our text box now curves alongside the cupcake. 1:56 Now you have the freedom to manipulate the type box 2:00 to whatever shape you want it to be. 2:03
